About this session

Stress is not caused by one thing. It can build from workload, uncertainty, difficult relationships, constant interruption, lack of control, poor recovery or simply too many demands arriving at the same time.

What makes stress manageable for one person may be completely different for another.

This session helps participants identify their own stress pattern rather than relying on generic advice.

They map the situations, thoughts, behaviors and working conditions that increase pressure, distinguish short-term stress from a more sustained pattern and identify where they still have practical influence.

Participants then build a toolkit for managing stress more effectively in real working life. They work with immediate regulation, workload and priority decisions, recovery, communication and early support.

The aim is not to eliminate all stress. It is to notice it earlier, reduce avoidable pressure and respond before stress begins to dominate the whole working day.

What’s covered

Understand Your Stress Pattern

Every length
  • Map what is driving the pressureParticipants identify the situations, demands and conditions that repeatedly raise stress, such as workload, uncertainty, interruptions, conflict or lack of control.
  • Notice your early warning signsParticipants identify how stress first appears for them through tension, irritability, rushing, poor concentration, sleep disruption, checking or withdrawal.
  • Identify what you do when stress risesParticipants map their common responses, such as working faster, avoiding tasks, overchecking, becoming reactive or pushing through without breaks.
  • Separate what you can and cannot influenceParticipants divide current stressors into what they can control, what they can influence and what sits outside their immediate control.

Regulate Stress in the Moment

90 minutes and longer
  • Create a pause before reactingParticipants practice short ways to slow the immediate response to pressure, such as pausing, stepping away briefly or delaying a non-urgent reply.
  • Use a simple physical resetParticipants test accessible options such as slower breathing, movement, stretching or changing environment for a few minutes.
  • Reduce the number of things competing at onceParticipants identify moments where multiple demands are creating unnecessary overload and choose one next priority, close avoidable inputs or capture competing tasks externally.
  • Use language that lowers escalationParticipants practice replacing rushed or reactive communication with clearer language that describes the issue, what is needed and what can happen next.

Reduce the Stress You Can Influence

3 hours and longer
  • Make priorities visibleParticipants identify where several tasks are all being treated as equally urgent and make the trade-offs explicit.
  • Address recurring workload pressureParticipants identify where excessive volume, unrealistic deadlines or constant interruptions repeatedly drive stress and decide what practical change is needed.
  • Reduce avoidance-based stressParticipants identify tasks, decisions or conversations that become more stressful because they are repeatedly postponed.
  • Build clearer boundaries around capacityParticipants practice making capacity visible by stating current commitments, the impact of additional work and the trade-off required.

Build a Sustainable Stress-Management System

Full day only
  • Protect recovery before you need it desperatelyParticipants identify the forms of recovery that genuinely help them reset and place realistic opportunities into the week before pressure becomes overwhelming.
  • Create a high-stress version of your routineParticipants build a reduced version of their normal wellbeing habits for periods when time and energy are limited.
  • Ask for support earlierParticipants identify who can help with workload, practical decisions, perspective or professional support and practice making a specific request before stress becomes unmanageable.
