About this session

Emergency Response Champions are nominated employees who help their workplace remain prepared for serious medical emergencies. They are not substitutes for emergency services, qualified health and safety professionals or appropriately trained first-aid responders.

Their role is to strengthen the system surrounding the emergency response.

A champion may help colleagues locate an AED, reinforce the emergency sequence, support drills, identify access barriers, communicate with reception or security and help ensure that preparedness does not fade after a single training session.

The program combines practical learning with workplace coordination. Participants practice recognizing a possible cardiac arrest, activating emergency services, delivering CPR on training manikins, using AED trainers and allocating immediate response roles.

They also examine the organization's wider readiness: whether AEDs are visible and accessible, whether people know whom to call, whether reception and security understand their roles, whether emergency responders can reach every area quickly, whether arrangements work across shifts and locations, whether drills and refresher activities happen regularly and whether employees receive clear, proportionate communication.

The program is available in leaner formats for organizations beginning their champion initiative. The full-day and two-day formats provide the depth required to prepare a functioning champion cohort and apply the learning to the organization's actual workplace.

This is a premium, organization-specific champion-development program rather than ordinary CPR or AED instruction.
