ISO 45001:2027 revision, with stronger focus on psychosocial health

Takes effect January 2027 to December 2027By WorkblissUpdated October 19, 2026

What’s happening

ISO's draft revision of the main workplace health and safety management standard (ISO/DIS 45001) closed its ballot on September 9, 2026. Expected changes include more focus on stress and workplace culture, climate-related risks such as heat, hybrid work and leadership accountability, with an expected three-year transition for certified employers.

What to do

If your sites are ISO 45001 certified, ask your certification body for a gap review against the draft, focusing on psychosocial risk.
