About this session

Medicines kept at home may include prescriptions, pain relief, cold and allergy products, inhalers, creams, vitamins, supplements and medicines used only occasionally.

When these accumulate across cupboards, handbags, bedside tables and different rooms, it becomes easier to lose track of what is current, expired or accessible to someone for whom it was not intended.

This session helps participants review the complete home medication environment.

They identify suitable storage locations, protect products from children, visitors and pets, retain important labels and instructions and separate active treatment from medicines that are no longer required.

Participants also create a regular medicine-cupboard review and a clear response plan for damaged products, accidental access or possible poisoning.

The emphasis is on practical household systems that preserve access for the person taking the medicine while reducing avoidable risk for everyone else.
