About this session

A health check can turn one appointment into a page of numbers: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, body measurements and sometimes other preventive results.

The difficult part often begins after the check, when the participant is left deciding which numbers matter, whether an unexpected result is serious and what they are supposed to do next.

Making Sense of Your Health Check Results starts after the measurements have already been taken. Participants learn how to identify the exact test, unit, date, testing conditions and explanation supplied with each result before trying to interpret it.

They also learn why reference ranges, clinical decision thresholds and individualized treatment targets are different concepts and why a flag on a report is not automatically a diagnosis.

The session then applies that health-literacy framework to common preventive results.

Participants explore blood pressure, lipid panels, glucose or A1C results and body measurements at an awareness level, while keeping each number connected with previous results, health history, medicines, family history and wider cardiovascular or metabolic risk.

The aim is understanding what question the result raises — not independently deciding what condition it proves.

Longer formats build a complete follow-through system. Participants learn to compare trends appropriately, understand why repeat testing may be needed, prepare focused healthcare questions, prioritize realistic next actions and track whether follow-up actually occurs.

The program does not interpret individual employee results or create employer health-risk profiles. It helps people become more confident users of their own health information.

What your people take away

  • Identify exactly what was measured, when it was measured and which unit or category was used
  • Understand the difference between a reference range, clinical decision threshold and individualized target
  • Distinguish a screening result from a confirmed diagnosis
  • Read blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose / A1C and body measurements at an appropriate health-literacy level
  • Recognize when testing conditions or measurement circumstances may be relevant to professional interpretation
  • Use previous results and trends more intelligently without obsessively monitoring every number
  • Prepare focused questions about repeat testing, monitoring, treatment and wider risk
  • Prioritize the most important follow-up actions rather than reacting to every result at once

  • Lipid-panel relationships
  • Glucose versus A1C
  • Body-measurement limitations
  • Testing conditions
  • Trends and previous results
  • Repeat-testing questions
  • Wider health-risk context
  • Prioritized follow-up planning
  • Personal Results & Questions Map

What’s covered

Decode the Result Before Reacting to the Number

Every length
  • Identify the test, unit, date & contextParticipants begin by recording the exact name of each result, its number, unit, date and the setting in which it was measured.
  • Understand what the range or flag actually representsA report may show a reference interval, a risk category, a clinical decision threshold or another form of guidance.
  • Separate screening from diagnosisA screening result can identify possible risk or indicate that another measurement or clinical assessment is appropriate.
  • Write down what is known — and what is still unclearParticipants divide their results into what they understand, what requires explanation and what already has a defined next step.

Understand the Common Numbers Without Turning Them Into Verdicts

90 minutes and longer
  • Read blood pressure as a measurement that can varyParticipants identify the systolic and diastolic numbers and learn that blood pressure can change with activity, stress, caffeine, posture, measurement technique and other circumstances.
  • Read the lipid panel as a group of related resultsWhere reported, participants identify total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides and learn why the panel should be considered as a group rather than reducing heart-health risk to one number.
  • Know which blood-glucose result you actually receivedParticipants identify whether the health check reported a single glucose measurement, a fasting result, A1C / HbA1c or another glucose-related measure.
  • Use body measurements proportionatelyWeight, BMI and waist circumference may be included in some preventive risk assessments, but none provides a complete description of health.

Connect Results With Context, Trends & Uncertainty

3 hours and longer
  • Compare like with likeParticipants learn to compare the same test using compatible units and relevant testing conditions rather than placing unrelated results side by side.
  • Look for trend without becoming obsessed with every fluctuationPrevious results can help show whether a measurement is stable, improving, worsening or simply variable.
  • Add the wider health pictureAge, family history, smoking, existing conditions, previous cardiovascular events, medicines, pregnancy where relevant and other clinical factors can affect how results are interpreted.
  • Understand why repeat testing sometimes mattersAn unexpected result may need another measurement under more standardized conditions, another type of test or observation over time.

Turn Results Into a Clear Follow-Up Plan

Full day only
  • Prioritize clinical follow-up before lifestyle optimizationParticipants first identify whether the screening service recommended repeat measurement, a routine healthcare appointment, more urgent review or another specific action.
  • Ask questions that move the result forwardUseful questions may include what the result measures, whether it needs confirmation, how it compares with previous values, which other risk factors matter and what should happen next.
  • Define who does what — and by whenParticipants record whether they need to book an appointment, whether the screening provider is arranging follow-up, whether a test will be repeated and when another review is expected.
  • Keep the result private & useful over timeParticipants build a private health-results record containing dates, test names, results, professional explanations and completed follow-up.
