About this session
Negotiation rarely unfolds exactly as planned. An opening offer changes expectations.
A deadline suddenly appears. The other party goes silent, asks for one more concession, claims their hands are tied or introduces a new stakeholder late in the discussion.
In these moments, technical preparation matters — but so does the ability to recognize what is happening and respond deliberately.
This session begins with Negotiation Tactics & Influence 101. Participants learn how framing, questions, credibility, offers, anchors, reciprocity and concessions shape a negotiation.
They then progress into more demanding situations involving tactical pressure, leverage, authority, deadlines, impasse and competing influence attempts.
Longer versions develop genuinely advanced capability: negotiating several issues simultaneously, designing conditional packages, using contingent agreements, navigating unequal power, handling multiple stakeholders and adapting strategy as new information changes the negotiation.
The emphasis throughout is ethical and evidence-based. A tactic is not successful merely because it pressures the other side into saying yes; strong negotiation protects judgment, relationships and implementable agreements while pursuing legitimate interests.
