About this session
Social media creates an unusual writing challenge.
A post may need to earn attention in seconds, communicate a meaningful idea in limited space, sound recognisably human, reflect the organization's voice and encourage an appropriate next action — all while competing with a large volume of other content.
Strong professional social writing therefore begins before the first sentence. Participants identify who the content is for, what that audience should understand or do, why the message is worth their attention and how the organization should sound when communicating it.
They then practice writing hooks, structuring posts, simplifying language, building short-form narratives and using calls to action without turning every post into a sales pitch.
The session also develops adaptation and judgment.
Participants learn to reshape the same core idea for different platforms and contexts rather than copying identical text everywhere; write with accessibility and credibility in mind; use AI tools as drafting support without outsourcing judgment; and interpret content performance through the objective of the post rather than vanity metrics alone.
The goal is not to manufacture virality. It is to create consistently useful, distinctive and professional social communication.

What’s covered
Write With Audience, Purpose & Voice
Every length- Know who the post is forA post written for prospective customers requires different context from one written for employees, industry peers, job candidates or existing clients.
- Define the job of the postA useful post should have a reason to exist beyond 'we need something to publish'.
- Build a recognisable voiceBrand voice is more useful when it describes observable writing choices rather than vague adjectives such as 'authentic' or 'dynamic'.
- Write for value before visibilityAttention is useful only if the content gives the audience a reason to continue reading.
Craft Social Copy That Earns & Holds Attention
90 minutes and longer- Write a stronger openingThe opening needs to give the reader enough reason to continue without promising something the post cannot deliver.
- Structure for scanningSocial audiences frequently scan before committing to a full read.
- Use short-form storytellingStories can make professional ideas concrete when they contain a meaningful change, tension, example or observation.
- Make the next step naturalNot every post requires 'Book a demo' or 'Tell us what you think'.
Adapt Content Without Losing the Message
3 hours and longer- Adapt — don't just cross-postThe same business idea can often travel across several platforms, but audience expectations, surrounding context, available formats and interaction patterns may differ.
- Choose the right content modeProfessional social writing may need to educate, demonstrate expertise, explain a company perspective, announce change, promote an offer, highlight people or encourage community discussion.
- Build credibility into the copySocial media rewards concise communication, but simplification should not turn uncertainty into certainty or marketing language into unsupported fact.
- Write for accessibility & real peopleProfessional content should remain understandable beyond an internal expert audience.
Build a Professional Social Writing System
Full day only- Edit harder than you draftFirst drafts often contain background the writer needed in order to think rather than information the reader needs in order to understand.
- Repurpose ideas — not just wordsOne strong webinar, report, customer insight, interview or expert conversation can generate several pieces of social content without producing near-identical posts.
- Use AI as a drafting partner, not the author of recordGenerative AI can help create options, shorten drafts, challenge structure, adapt tone or repurpose source material, but fluent output can still be generic, inaccurate or inconsistent with organizational voice.
- Learn from performance without chasing vanityA post designed to explain a complex idea should not automatically be judged by the same metric as one designed to generate registrations or conversation.
