First year-end shutdown under Payday Super

Takes effect December 14, 2026 to January 15, 2027By WorkblissUpdated October 19, 2026

What’s happening

Since July 1, 2026, employers must pay super with each pay run, and it must reach the employee's fund within 7 business days. The guarantee rate stays at 12%. December bonuses, leave paid in advance and the public holidays on December 25, December 28 and January 1 all affect whether contributions arrive on time this year.

What to do

Confirm with payroll that super on bonus and pre-shutdown pay runs will reach funds within 7 business days once public holidays are counted, and that someone is covering payroll over the shutdown.
