Maharashtra and Telangana allow 10-hour workdays

What’s happening

Maharashtra's Shops and Establishments Act now allows 10-hour days (48 hours a week), a 12-hour spread-over and 144 overtime hours a quarter (up from 125), and applies full registration only to establishments with 20 or more employees. Telangana's G.O. Rt. No. 282 lets commercial establishments (not shops) run 10-hour days within the 48-hour week, with a break after six hours and up to 144 overtime hours a quarter.

What to do

Watch for longer days and fatigue at Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad sites, and pair any longer shifts with breaks and workload support.
