California pay data reports due, with higher penalties for repeat failures
What’s happening
Private employers with 100 or more employees, or 100 or more workers hired through labor contractors, must file annual pay data reports with the Civil Rights Department. Under SB 1237, the penalty for a repeat failure to file rises to up to $1,000 per employee starting in 2027.
What to do
Start gathering 2026 pay and demographic data in Q1 so the filing is not rushed.
