Maryland paid family and medical leave (FAMLI) contributions begin
What’s happening
Maryland's FAMLI program starts collecting 0.90% of wages (up to the Social Security wage base), which employers with 15 or more employees may split 50/50 with workers. Benefits start no later than January 3, 2028.
What to do
Register with the FAMLI Division, file a declaration of intent by Nov 15 if you plan to use a private plan, set up payroll, and give employees written notice in December, at least one pay period before withholding starts.
