About this session
Workplace change can mean a restructure, a new manager, shifting priorities, a merger, role redesign or simply working in a different way with less certainty than before.
People are often managing unanswered questions, disrupted routines and decisions about what to do next at the same time.
In this session, participants work with a current or realistic workplace change and map what is known, what remains uncertain and what is within their control.
They practice cognitive flexibility, clearer decision-making and ways to stabilize attention when uncertainty starts consuming it.
The session then moves into adaptation: protecting useful routines, identifying new skills, asking for better clarity and building a personal resilience plan for the weeks ahead. The focus is practical adjustment, not forced positivity or pretending every change is welcome.
This is workplace wellbeing education rather than therapy or treatment for a mental health condition.

What’s covered
Read the Change Clearly
Every length- Separate facts from forecastsParticipants map the change they are currently dealing with into three columns: confirmed facts, unanswered questions and assumptions.
- Spot your change responseParticipants identify how change tends to show up in their own working behavior.
- Sort control from influenceUsing a control-and-influence map, participants sort current concerns into what they can act on directly, what they can influence through a conversation or request, and what is outside their control for now.
- Protect what is still stableParticipants identify the parts of work that remain stable despite the change.
Work With Uncertainty, Not Against It
90 minutes and longer- Contain open questionsParticipants examine the moments when uncertainty turns into repeated mental rehearsal.
- Practice cognitive flexibilityParticipants practice cognitive reappraisal using a real workplace change.
- Turn uncertainty into next actionsParticipants break a large, ambiguous change into the next decision, conversation or action that can genuinely be completed.
- Stabilize before high-stakes momentsParticipants identify where change pressure is affecting concentration, judgment or communication and build short stabilizing routines before high-stakes moments.
Adapt Without Losing Your Footing
3 hours and longer- Separate role change from personal valueParticipants separate their current job configuration from the capabilities and values they bring to work.
- Name the skill the change requiresParticipants identify what the new situation is actually asking them to learn — a new system, relationship, decision process, skill or way of working.
- Ask for useful clarityParticipants practice asking for useful clarity during change.
- Keep, change or stop your routinesParticipants review the routines that currently support focus, recovery and connection and decide which should stay, which need adapting and which no longer fit.
Build a Resilience Plan That Holds
Full day only- Practice uncertainty in smaller dosesParticipants use a graded-practice approach to build tolerance for uncertainty rather than waiting to feel completely confident.
- Build recovery into the planParticipants create a resilience recovery plan for periods when change pressure starts affecting sleep, energy, mood or attention.
- Pre-plan likely change momentsParticipants pre-plan responses to three likely change moments.
- Know where support comes fromParticipants build a support map covering information, practical help, perspective and professional support.
