About this session
Most financial progress depends on behaviors that have to happen more than once.
Checking an account, moving money aside, reviewing an upcoming cost, pausing before a purchase or completing a financial task may each be simple in isolation — but consistency becomes harder when attention, time and motivation are competing with everything else in life.
This session helps participants examine how their current money habits actually work.
They identify the situations that trigger useful and unhelpful behaviors, notice where important actions involve too many steps and choose a small number of financial routines worth making easier.
Participants then redesign those behaviors using clearer cues, lower friction, useful defaults, automation where appropriate and realistic review rhythms.
The session also addresses what happens when habits break. Rather than treating one missed week or difficult month as failure, participants build restart rules, adapt routines when circumstances change and create a practical system for strengthening habits gradually.
They leave with a personal money-habit plan based on repeatable actions rather than willpower alone.

- Choose the money habits that would make the greatest practical difference if they became more consistent
- Use cues, friction reduction, defaults and automation to make useful actions easier to repeat
- Build realistic financial check-ins and decision rules that reduce repeated mental effort
- Create restart and review systems so habits can survive disruption, setbacks and changing circumstances

What’s covered
See the Money Habits Already Running
Every length- Map what happens without much thoughtParticipants map several repeated money behaviors, such as what happens when they are paid, notice a bill, consider a purchase or remember a financial task.
- Find the cue that starts the behaviorParticipants identify what tends to happen immediately before a financial action.
- Notice where friction stops good intentionsParticipants choose a useful financial action they regularly postpone and count the practical steps required to complete it.
- Choose the habit with the best payoffParticipants compare several possible habit changes and choose one that is small enough to repeat but meaningful enough to matter.
Design Habits That Are Easier to Repeat
90 minutes and longer- Attach the habit to a reliable momentParticipants choose an existing event that already occurs consistently.
- Shrink the first stepParticipants reduce the starting action until it is easy to begin even when motivation is low.
- Remove the steps that make the habit annoyingParticipants redesign the environment around the behavior by preparing information, simplifying access, consolidating reminders or removing unnecessary decisions.
- Make completion visibleParticipants choose a lightweight way to see that the habit happened, such as a simple check, calendar mark or progress indicator.
Build Money Routines That Run With Less Effort
3 hours and longer- Create a short payday routineParticipants design a repeatable sequence for the first useful actions after income arrives, choosing only the steps relevant to their circumstances.
- Build a money check-in you will actually doParticipants create a short weekly or periodic review covering only the information needed to make the next few financial decisions.
- Use automation where the decision is already madeParticipants identify actions that can happen automatically once the amount, timing and purpose have already been decided.
- Create rules for repeated decisionsParticipants identify money situations where they repeatedly face the same choice and create a simple decision rule in advance.
Recover, Adapt & Strengthen the Habit
Full day only- Plan for the week the habit does not happenParticipants identify predictable situations that may interrupt their routine and decide what happens next.
- Change the system before blaming yourselfWhen a habit repeatedly fails, participants examine whether the cue is unreliable, the action is too large, the timing is poor or the routine requires too much effort.
- Adapt the habit when life changesParticipants test how their financial routines would need to change during a new job, different payday, caring responsibilities, income pressure or another life transition.
- Add the next habit only when the first one worksParticipants review whether the priority behavior is becoming reliably easier before adding another financial routine.
