About this session
Emotional intelligence becomes particularly valuable when decisions involve uncertainty, people, competing interests, high stakes, disagreement, or imperfect information.
In these situations, emotion is already part of the decision whether the decision maker acknowledges it or not.
Participants learn to treat emotions as one source of information within a wider decision process.
They identify how their current emotional state can influence attention, confidence, risk perception, and interpretation; distinguish experienced intuition from incidental emotion; and use regulation techniques when emotional intensity is likely to narrow judgment.
The session then moves beyond self-awareness into stakeholder intelligence.
Participants examine how decisions will affect different people, recognize emotional and relational consequences, surface values and trade-offs, challenge emotionally attractive conclusions, and communicate difficult decisions with clarity and empathy.
The aim is not emotion-free decision-making — it is better-integrated judgment.

Regulate Emotion & Challenge Bias
90 minutes and longer- Know when to slow the decisionHigh emotional activation can narrow attention and increase certainty before enough evidence has been considered.
- Regulate before you evaluateRegulation is not about removing emotion.
- Watch for emotion-amplified biasEmotion can strengthen confirmation bias, loss aversion, overconfidence, threat sensitivity, sunk-cost thinking, or attachment to a preferred outcome.
