About this session

Transportation ergonomics is the study of how vehicles, equipment, routes, work areas, schedules, and human capabilities interact.

A task that appears manageable at bench height may become demanding inside a vibrating cab, beside a mismatched trailer, during repeated curb-side delivery, underneath a vehicle, or across a multi-screen control desk.

Guided by the facilitator, participants examine how reach, force, visibility, duration, vibration, access, footing, and recovery combine across real transportation roles.

The session compares immediate setup changes with decisions that belong to fleet, facilities, engineering, procurement, scheduling, or occupational health.

Practical application is included, but personal technique is never presented as a substitute for suitable seats, maintained equipment, realistic routes, mechanical aids, or safe work design.

What your people take away

  • Understand how work height, reach, force, vibration, access, visibility, and duration interact
  • Compare ergonomic demands across cabs, docks, trailers, workshops, and dispatch environments
  • Distinguish useful personal adjustments from fleet, facilities, equipment, and roster controls
  • Explore how task sequencing and staging can reduce avoidable strain
  • Recognize when discomfort, reduced function, or equipment problems require escalation
  • Apply the principles to one representative transportation task without replacing formal assessment
