About this session
Headaches can affect concentration, communication, decision-making and the ability to remain comfortable at work. Migraine can also involve nausea, visual disturbance and sensitivity to light, sound or movement, making ordinary workplace environments difficult to manage.
In this practical session, participants explore the differences between common headache patterns, the factors that may contribute to symptoms and the adjustments that can reduce unnecessary strain.
The facilitator examines screen use, lighting, posture, noise, hydration, meals, sleep, stress and working routines without suggesting that every headache has a simple or controllable trigger.
Participants learn how to notice patterns, prepare for difficult working days and communicate their needs more clearly. The session also explains when recurring, changing or sudden symptoms require professional assessment rather than continued self-management.
Keeping a headache or migraine record can help identify patterns and provide useful information for a healthcare appointment, as NHS guidance suggests.
This session provides general education about headaches, migraine and workplace adjustments. It does not diagnose the cause of an individual headache, distinguish between medical conditions or recommend medication.
Sudden severe headache, headache following a head injury, new neurological symptoms, significant visual changes, confusion, weakness or other rapidly developing symptoms require urgent medical assessment.
NHS guidance also recommends urgent help for certain new, severe or unusual headache presentations.
