About this session
Intuitive eating is not about eating anything at any time without thought. It is about rebuilding awareness of internal cues, reducing rigid food rules and making choices with greater flexibility and self-trust.
For many people, years of dieting, workplace pressure, irregular schedules or emotional eating can make those signals harder to notice.
This session introduces the practical foundations of intuitive eating in a non-clinical workplace context.
Participants explore hunger, fullness, satisfaction, food rules and emotional triggers and learn how to distinguish physical need from habit, stress or external cues without judging any of those experiences as wrong.
The session then focuses on permission, flexibility and real-life application. Participants practice making food choices that consider both internal cues and practical realities such as work schedules, social eating and availability.
The aim is not perfect eating or weight change. It is a more respectful, less rule-driven relationship with food that can support long-term wellbeing.

What’s covered
Reconnect With Your Eating Cues
Every length- Notice hunger before it becomes urgentParticipants identify how hunger shows up for them through physical sensations, concentration changes, irritability or low energy and notice whether they routinely wait until hunger becomes extreme before eating.
- Pay attention to fullness without chasing perfect numbersParticipants practice noticing changes in comfort and satisfaction as they eat and distinguish comfortably satisfied from overly full or still hungry.
- Notice how work disrupts internal cuesParticipants identify where meetings, deadlines, commuting or shift patterns lead them to ignore or delay hunger and fullness cues.
- Use curiosity instead of judgmentParticipants practice noticing eating patterns with questions such as 'What was happening here?' rather than immediately labeling the choice good, bad or out of control.
Step Away From Rigid Food Rules
90 minutes and longer- Identify the rules you are followingParticipants identify explicit and hidden rules such as 'I cannot eat after a certain time,' 'carbs are bad' or 'I have to earn dessert.' They examine where those rules came from and whether they still help.
- Notice what restriction does nextParticipants examine whether strict restriction increases preoccupation, guilt or rebound eating later.
- Remove the moral labelsParticipants practice describing food in terms of taste, satisfaction, nutrition, convenience or context rather than 'clean,' 'bad' or 'cheating.' This reduces the tendency to turn ordinary eating choices into judgments about personal character.
- Practice permission with awarenessParticipants explore the difference between permission and impulsivity and practice allowing previously restricted foods while still noticing hunger, satisfaction and context.
Work With Emotion, Habit and Satisfaction
3 hours and longer- Distinguish physical hunger from other driversParticipants practice noticing when eating is being prompted by stress, boredom, reward, habit or environmental cues rather than physical hunger.
- Let comfort eating be informationParticipants examine what comfort eating may be providing, such as soothing, pleasure, distraction or connection.
- Pay attention to satisfactionParticipants notice whether what they choose is actually enjoyable and satisfying rather than selecting food only because it fits a rule.
- Reset without compensatingParticipants practice responding to overeating or an unplanned choice by returning to normal eating at the next opportunity rather than skipping meals, restricting or punishing themselves.
Make Intuitive Eating Work in Real Life
Full day only- Use internal cues and practical planning togetherParticipants learn that intuitive eating can include planning ahead when work schedules, travel or limited food access make spontaneous eating difficult.
- Adapt for busy and irregular daysParticipants create flexible options for office days, remote work, shifts or travel and identify where backup meals or snacks make it easier to respond to hunger rather than waiting until options become very limited.
- Navigate social food without compensationParticipants practice approaching celebrations, lunches and shared meals as part of normal eating rather than events that need to be earned or corrected afterward.
- Know when specialist support is neededParticipants identify situations involving eating-disorder symptoms, significant restriction, bingeing, purging, major appetite changes or medical nutrition needs where individualized professional support is more appropriate than general intuitive-eating education.
