About this session

Men experience many of the same mental-health pressures as everyone else, including workload, relationship difficulties, financial stress, bereavement, health concerns and major life changes.

But expectations around masculinity, self-reliance and "coping" can influence how those pressures are expressed and whether support is sought.

Distress does not always appear as visible sadness. Irritability, withdrawal, disrupted sleep, overworking, loss of motivation, increased alcohol use or changes in social behavior can all form part of the picture.

This session examines men's mental health through the realities of work and everyday life.

It explores stigma, help-seeking, stress, communication and supportive workplace responses so attendees leave better able to recognize difficulty, talk about it and respond constructively when someone else may be struggling.
