About this session

Prediabetes means blood-glucose levels are higher than normal but have not reached the diagnostic range for type 2 diabetes. It often causes no obvious symptoms, which means testing may be the only way someone discovers that their blood sugar is elevated.

Prediabetes increases the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes, but progression is not inevitable.

Type 2 diabetes develops when the body does not use insulin effectively and may no longer produce enough insulin to keep blood glucose within a healthy range.

Risk is shaped by a combination of family history, age, previous gestational diabetes, activity, body composition, health conditions and wider social or environmental factors—not by one food, one habit or a lack of willpower.

This session starts with the practical actions employees can take now. Participants build realistic routines around meals, movement, sleep and healthcare follow-up, learn what common blood tests are designed to show, and prepare useful questions for a clinician.

It provides education and prevention support without diagnosing participants or replacing individualized diabetes care.
