About this session

Mexican employee tax planning starts in payroll but does not end with the ISR withheld from each paycheck.

The CFDI de nómina can contain taxable and exempt employment income, payroll deductions, ISR, social-security items, other payments, and employer adjustments, while the employee's final annual tax position can also reflect multiple employers, personal deductions, investments, property, additional income, and other tax events.

This session turns those moving parts into a practical employee tax system.

Participants first understand salary ISR withholding, the progressive-tax concept, CFDI de nómina, taxable versus exempt employment income, variable payments such as aguinaldo and PTU, IMSS / INFONAVIT payroll distinctions, and the difference between an employer annual adjustment and an employee's own annual declaration.

The later modules focus on legitimate personal deductions and the evidence behind them, workplace benefits and previsión social, retirement-tax boundaries, investments, property, additional income, and SAT administration.

Participants learn to use the payroll and personal-deduction viewers as reconciliation tools, review pre-filled annual information rather than relying on it blindly, and finish with a Mexico Tax Planning Calendar covering evidence, payroll, annual filing, refund / payment review, and future tax questions.

What’s covered

Understand Your Mexican Salary Tax Position

Every length
  • Connect salary ISR withholding with final annual taxParticipants learn how ISR is withheld through payroll during the year and why the final annual tax position can still depend on total salary, multiple employers, other income, personal deductions, investment income, property, and other tax events.
  • Read the CFDI de nómina — not just the bank depositParticipants learn to identify taxable perceptions, exempt perceptions, deductions, ISR withholding, social-security items, other payments, employer information, and payroll corrections within supplied CFDI de nómina examples.
  • Distinguish ISR, IMSS, infonavit & other payroll itemsParticipants learn why employee IMSS contributions, INFONAVIT loan deductions where relevant, benefit deductions, and other payroll items are different from ISR.
  • Understand variable employment income & annual adjustment without chasing one paycheck's tax rateParticipants examine aguinaldo, PTU, prima vacacional, bonuses, commissions, overtime, subsidio para el empleo where applicable, and employer annual tax adjustment at a conceptual level.

Build Your Personal Deduction & Tax Evidence System

90 minutes and longer
  • Test personal deduction eligibility before focusing on the tax benefitParticipants examine medical, dental, hospital, insurance, funeral, donation, education, school-transport, mortgage-interest, retirement, and other current personal-deduction categories and learn why each one has its own beneficiary, payment, CFDI, annual-limit, and statutory conditions.
  • Use the right CFDI & payment evidenceParticipants learn why the taxpayer's RFC, invoice classification, service description, payment method, payment source, beneficiary, and tax year can matter to a personal deduction.
  • Keep tax relief separate from the underlying financial decisionParticipants compare medical-insurance premiums, tuition, donations, mortgage interest, retirement contributions, and other tax-relief examples and learn why a deduction does not make an insurance policy, educational expense, donation, mortgage, or retirement product financially appropriate.
  • Reconcile the records before the annual returnParticipants build a Mexico Tax Evidence System and use supplied SAT personal-deduction-viewer examples to identify missing, inconsistent, or potentially ineligible items.

Understand Workplace Benefits, Social Security & Retirement-Tax Boundaries

3 hours and longer
  • Understand previsión social & employer benefits without treating every benefit as tax freeParticipants learn that savings funds, vouchers, insurance, reimbursements, scholarships, transport assistance, housing assistance, and other employer benefits can have taxable, exempt, partially exempt, or special treatment depending on current statutory requirements and the employer plan.
  • Keep IMSS & infonavit separate from personal ISR planningParticipants learn why IMSS payroll contributions belong to Mexico's social-security system and why INFONAVIT payroll deductions can represent housing-credit obligations rather than income tax.
  • Understand AFORE / retirement contribution tax treatment without turning it into retirement adviceParticipants distinguish ordinary retirement-system participation from qualifying voluntary, complementary, or personal retirement contributions that can receive tax treatment under current rules.
  • Recognize employment payments that need deeper tax reviewParticipants identify termination payments, indemnities, retirement / pension payments, complex employer reimbursements, employee equity, foreign-parent compensation, and unusual benefits as situations that can require current SAT guidance or specialist tax support rather than generic payroll education.

Manage Other Income, Annual Declaration & the Full Fiscal Year

Full day only
  • Recognize the tax information created by interest, dividends & investmentsParticipants identify interest, dividends, securities transactions, capital gains, and other investment income as potentially separate annual tax components.
  • Recognize property, equity, business & cross-border complexityParticipants learn that rental property, property sales, employee equity, professional / freelance activity, platform income, business income, foreign income, foreign assets, and uncertain Mexican tax residence can create materially more complex obligations.
  • Reconcile SAT information — do not assume pre-filled means completeParticipants learn to compare payroll CFDIs, personal-deduction records, employer information, investment or lender statements, tax already withheld, and other personal records with the information available through SAT.
  • Close the year with the annual declaration & next-year planParticipants distinguish employer annual adjustment from personal filing, review annual-declaration triggers, understand saldo a favor and saldo a cargo, retain filing confirmation, monitor Buzón Tributario where applicable, and build a Mexico Tax Planning Calendar covering payroll, evidence, additional income, annual filing, and the next fiscal year.
