About this session

Endometriosis is a long-term condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other parts of the body.

Symptoms can include pelvic pain, painful periods, heavy bleeding, fatigue, pain during or after sex, painful bowel movements or urination, and difficulty becoming pregnant, although experiences vary considerably.

The effects do not remain outside the workplace. Pain, bleeding, fatigue, digestive or bladder symptoms, disrupted sleep, medication effects and medical appointments may affect commuting, concentration, physical duties, meetings, attendance and confidence.

NHS workplace guidance recognizes that chronic pelvic pain and painful periods can make it harder to travel to work or complete tasks efficiently.

This session helps participants understand the condition, recognize their own workplace pressure points and prepare practical support conversations.

It also challenges stigma and the expectation that someone must conceal significant symptoms, work through severe pain or provide intimate medical details before their needs are taken seriously.
