About this session
Each person makes a scented container candle in a glass jar to take home or give: wax melted and poured, a wick set straight, a winter scent blended from fragrance oils such as cinnamon, orange, pine, clove and vanilla, and the jar dressed with twine, a dried orange slice and a label. A candle maker leads it step by step and handles the hot wax safety. It suits groups of eight to twenty-five and needs no experience. People leave with a candle they blended themselves and know how to cure and burn it so it works at home.
In person it needs tables with cover, a socket for the wax melters, a sink nearby and ventilation; Workbliss brings wax, jars, wicks, oils, thermometers and the candle maker, and the client provides the room. Online, each person receives a kit a week ahead with wax flakes, a jar, a wick, a scent trio and decorations, and melts the wax in a microwave-safe pouch on camera. No open flame is used in the session; hot wax is handled with the candle maker’s rules, and anyone with a fragrance allergy or asthma says so beforehand and gets an unscented option.

What’s covered
Wax, wicks and scent
Every length- What is in the candle kitSoy wax, a glass jar, a wick with a sticker and a holder, three fragrance oils, a thermometer, a stirrer and the decorations, explained
- Hot wax rulesMelters on a heat mat, wax never above the temperature on the card, aprons on, sleeves back, no water near wax, and what to do with a spill
- Setting the wickThe wick stuck to the center of the jar base, held straight with a holder or two pencils, and the jar warmed so the wax grips the glass
- Blending the scentCinnamon, orange, pine, clove and vanilla smelled on strips, a blend chosen and measured by the drop, and a scent that suits the wax
Pouring and decorating
Every length- Adding the fragranceWax off the heat, the thermometer checked, the oil stirred in slowly for a full minute so it binds, and the jar at the ready
- The pourWax cooled to the pouring temperature, poured slowly into the jar in one go, the wick kept straight, and a little wax saved for a top-up
- Dressing the jarTwine, a dried orange slice, a sprig of greenery, a cinnamon stick and a handwritten label with the scent and the date
Curing, burning and taking home
Every length- The top-up and the wick trimThe saved wax reheated and poured to fill the dip, the holder removed, and the wick trimmed to the right length once the top is firm
- Curing and the first burnWhy the candle waits one to two weeks before lighting, and the first burn to the edge of the jar so it never tunnels
- Burning it safely at homeWick trimmed each time, four hours at most, never unattended, away from drafts, curtains and children, and the jar cooled before moving
