About this session
Short video is how a lot of people now learn about companies, products and the people behind them, and a phone is enough to make it well. This session takes participants from an idea to a finished one-minute reel.
It starts with the story: a hook in the first three seconds, one idea for one minute, and a shot list that keeps filming short. Participants see the formats that work for professionals, from the walk-through to the lesson learned.
Filming covers the phone settings for video, light and sound, talking to camera with confidence, and the B-roll that makes a reel feel real: hands, screens, places and moments.
Editing is done on the phone: cutting for pace, captions and text, music and sound, and exporting for each platform.
The final part makes it repeatable: a reel recipe, batch filming days, reading the numbers, and the permission, privacy and brand questions to settle before posting.
The goal is a reel people watch to the end, made in an afternoon, and the confidence to make the next one.

What’s covered
The Story of a Reel
Every length- The first three secondsA reel is kept or skipped in the first three seconds, so the hook comes first in the script and on screen.
- One idea, one minuteThe reels people finish make one point; everything that supports a second point is a second reel.
- Script or shot listA six-line script or a ten-shot list is enough to film with purpose and stop re-shooting.
- Formats for professionalsThe walk-through, the lesson learned, the before-and-after, the day in the life and the quick how-to all suit real work.
Film It
90 minutes and longer- Phone settings for videoResolution, frame rate, stabilization and storage take two minutes to set and save every reel after.
- Light and soundA window and a quiet corner beat any gadget; a clip-on microphone is the one accessory worth owning.
- A-roll: talking to cameraShort takes, eye line at the lens, energy a notch above normal and a reset between sentences make talking to camera easy to edit.
- B-roll: the shots that make it realHands, screens, places, products and small moments, filmed for five seconds each, are what make a reel feel alive.
Edit It
2 hours and longer- Cut for paceTrim every pause, change the shot every three to five seconds and let the hook land before anything else.
- Captions and textMost people watch with the sound off; captions and a few words on screen carry the story.
- Music and soundA track that fits the pace, voice clearly above it, and nothing that sounds like a ringtone.
- Export and postVertical, full resolution, a strong cover frame and a first line that repeats the hook.
Make It a Habit
Half day only- A repeatable reel recipeHook, three B-roll shots, one line to camera, payoff: a recipe that makes the next reel a two-hour job.
- Batch filming daysOne morning of filming in a few locations produces B-roll for a month of reels.
- Read the numbersWatch time and shares say whether the story worked; views alone say little.
- Permission, privacy and the company lineWho appears, what is on screen, the brand guidelines and who approves all come before posting.
