About this session

A career can cross borders more easily than a pension record.

Someone may work in France, move to Germany, take a later role in Spain, hold an occupational pension from one employer, build statutory pension rights in several national systems and eventually retire somewhere else entirely.

Those rights do not automatically become one European pension.

This session gives employees a practical framework for understanding the pension trail created by an international career.

Participants distinguish statutory pensions from occupational and personal pensions, learn why EU coordination can require insurance periods from different Member States to be taken into account, and see why each country can still calculate and pay its own pension under its own rules and pensionable age.

The workshop also addresses occupational pension preservation, dormant pension rights, the difference between preserving and transferring a pension, the high-level role of PEPP, and the process for claiming pensions accumulated across several countries.

Participants leave with a Cross-Border Pension Record & Review Checklist designed to help them document what they have, identify what is missing, locate the relevant authority or provider, and prepare for retirement without turning general education into personal pension advice.
