About this session

Retirement planning in Italy sits across systems that behave very differently. The INPS statutory pension is built from contribution history and pension law.

Complementary pension arrangements build a separate individual retirement position. TFR can remain within the applicable employment framework or, depending on the employee's circumstances and choices, become part of complementary retirement provision.

Other personal assets can add another layer again.

This session begins with the public pension record.

Participants learn how to review their Estratto conto contributivo, identify the different types of pension contributions recorded by INPS, understand why contributive and mixed calculation systems can produce different pension mechanics, and use La mia pensione futura as a planning tool rather than as a guaranteed pension award.

Participants then move into complementary pension provision.

They distinguish fondi pensione negoziali, fondi pensione aperti, PIP and pre-existing funds; examine how TFR, employee and employer contributions can interact; review costs through COVIP's ISC framework; and learn how investment compartments differ from pension providers.

The final stage brings the public and complementary systems together through retirement timing, RITA, retirement-benefit options, survivor questions, international-career boundaries, and an Italy Retirement Review Checklist.
